In preparation
for the Lay Josephines’ renewal of their commitment this year, we invited Fr.
Celoy Villarosa, a diocesan priest to give them a half day recollection. He
focused his talk on the life of St. Joseph, the foster father of Jesus. How he lived out the responsibility God has
entrusted to him in taking care of His son Jesus. He led them to reflect on how
Joseph was obedient to the plan of God even without understanding at times and
even if it calls for big sacrifice on his part.
Fr. Celoy also stressed the hidden life of the Holy Family in Nazareth;
how Joseph and Mary molded Jesus through
work, prayer and other Nazareth values which
Jesus himself imbibed and made visible during His public life "kung ano
ang puno makikita sa bunga" (you would know the tree by its fruit) Towards end
of his sharing he invited them to strengthen their devotion to St. Joseph, the
model of their commitment as a Lay Josephine.
He stressed that their commitment must bring them true JOY in serving
the Lord.
The next day
event was the feast of St. Joseph the Worker (May 1, 2018). LJs and SSJs
celebrated it together. They had a Eucharistic celebration presided by Fr. Chad
Gayares at the Chapel of St. Theresita’s Academy.
There were also some visitors
present. After Communion, the eight Lay Josephines renewed their commitment,
then Fr. Chad blessed each one of them.
After
the Mass, everybody proceeded in the canteen to have BRUNCH which means
combined breakfast and lunch. It was a good occasion for them for bonding as
they enjoyed partaking of the food together.
What
a memorable and fruitful celebration of St. Joseph’s Day it was for the LJs and
SSJs!
